A site to learn about the app, its development, the people behind it, and keep up with all things related to Carpool.edu.
App Overview
Carpool.edu is an app designed to help people find convenient rides at a cheaper price. This app was inspired by the need for college students without a car to get home and the desire to save on gas when heading to and from hometowns. Yet, this app extends past college students, gives anyone a better alternative to a bus or plane by connecting people with others who are already going where they need to go.
Create Trips
For those making a drive with an open seat, this app gives them the opportunity to make money along the way. Within the “create trip” section of the app, someone can offer to drive others on their own terms, with their own rules, and at the price of their own choice. They can choose the time that works for them and add stops along the way. This app lets drivers save money and help others out without adding any inconvenience to them.
Join Rides
For those needing a ride or wanting an alternative to flying or driving, this app lets them ride with people nearby. This app groups people by location so you can search trips nearby and even filter your search to fit your specific traveling needs. For example you can find drivers based off their driver safety rating or find a driver that is okay with you bringing your dog. It then allows you to pay the driver directly on the app for your convenience.
Communicate With Others
Carpool.edu lets you keep in contact, ask questions, and make plans without leaving the app. The messenger ability gives users the ability to inquire about trips, ask the driver questions, make requisitions, or simply get familiar with one another through the messaging function. It also has the ability to create group chats.
User Testing
These were the main takeaways from our user testing on the first prototype.
User Test 1:
Confusion in finding button to search for new Trips
Did not feel like labels matched content in profile/settings section
Found typos
The organization of the home page did not make sense to them
Found back arrows that were not needed
Final Prototype
The updated home page. Reorganized and now includes a "Suggested" feature.

Driver Profile revised to include verification badge and Purchase Confirmation page reformatted and revised graphics to fit user test results.

Messages completely changed to be sleeker and more functional Picture/Gallery function was replaced with current location function for security. Verification badge was also added.
